Perhaps leadership is another word for change…
Is that not what leaders are constantly busy with? Frequently this focus on change results in having an eye only for an unattained ideal. This causes continuous dissatisfaction and stress.
The solution is most usually sought in “more”, “faster” or “radically different”, whereby the perception of where one is becomes murky. Frequently “the reality of the present moment is rejected, without being fully aware of it or completely understanding it” (Jon Kabat-Zinn).
Mindful leadership is a way of leading which supports necessary changes in teams or organizations with respect and attention. Real change can only occur in the “now”. That is why being openly and consciously present in the moment is so important. There is no room for large ego’s or a striving for status and fame. What characterizes these leaders is humility and a willingness to help, coupled with enthusiastic, calm passion.
The learning process, which supports this style of leadership, is conditional upon mindfulness. That process is offered in two ways by Breed Perspectief, together with Sacha Communication: as a programme for individuals stretching over a period of six months or as an “in-company” programme, in which a group from an organization works on this approach intensively for a period of eight weeks.
